Join us for Advanced Latin Reading in 2022!

Description: Our new Facebook group is the follow-up to Biblical Latin Group, which studied Wheelock during 2021. In, which include 2022 we will read the Gospel of John, Romans, Hebrews, among other canonical books. And we will mine deeply the Latin Per Diem posts on YouTube. Half the year we will spend on the classics such as Cicero, Seneca, Celsus, Livy, Vergil. The other half will cover ecclesiastical Latin: Tertullian, Cyprian, Ambrose, Augustine, Jerome, and more recent texts. Even some Erasmus, Calvin, and Descartes!

The page and tools are all in English.

Join with us as we read Augustine’s cry from the heart, in the original: “fecisti nos ad te et inquietum est cor nostrum, donec requiescat in te” – Thou hast made us for Thee, and our heart is restless until it rests in Thee.

Schedule: The year begins on Monday, January 3, 2022. The schedule runs from Monday-Sunday. In an average week, the participate will read two chapters of the Vulgate New Testament and five (roughly 4 minutes long) units from Latin Per Diem. We list the hyperlinks for the ease of the reader. We will finish the year with the Vulgate version of Luke’s nativity story.
